5 Popular Lake Communities in Orlando

If you asked around about all of the best perks of living in Orlando, the chances are good that you will hear about our lakefront communities more often than not. Living in one of Orlando’s lake communities allows you to feel like you’re coming home to a vacation home every single day. There’s just nothing that is quite as relaxing!

Below, we’ll tell you about some of Orlando’s most popular lake communities. Get ready for some major community envy!

Orlando’s Best Lake Communities

Clermont Chain

The town of Clermont lies just west of Orlando proper, and consists of eleven breathtaking lakes that make up the Clermont Chain. Totaling more than 8,500 acres, these lakes include Lake Lucy and Lake Emma. In the Clermont Chain, you will find some of Florida’s best recreational fishing, with many fish species abounding, including perch and large mouth bass. Unofficially referred to as the “wakeboarding capital of the world,” there isn’t anywhere better for water sports enthusiasts.

Conway Chain

The Lake Conway Chain is one of Orlando’s most sought after and popular lake communities — and for good reason. This area has a rich history, offers beautiful scenery, and boasts some of Central Florida’s most valuable lakefront properties. The Lake Conway community is also incredibly family friendly, making it the perfect for home for growing families. Located just minutes downtown, the area is also extremely convenient for commuting and a close proximity to shopping, entertainment, and more.

Downtown

Did you know that many of Florida’s best lakes for boating, fishing, and water sports are right here in downtown Orlando? Downtown Orlando makes for a uniquely one of a kind home, with numerous public parks and green spaces nestled throughout the vibrant metro area. The maintenance and management of these waters have ensured that the lakes have stayed very healthy, both in terms of water clarity and the overall health and numbers of the fish population.

Johns Lake

The Johns Lake community borders Orange County and Lake County. Two of the lake’s shorelines remain almost completely undeveloped, making this community perfect for those who are truly looking for a peaceful lake getaway. Some residents have even referred to the lake as “John’s Chain” – the lake’s shoreline is so varied, it can often create an impression that there are actually multiple lakes.

John’s Lake is famous for its fishing — most notably for bass, although there are plenty of other species to be found in the lake, as well.

Winter Park Chain

Winter Park boasts a rich history, full of stories and tales that revolve around the lakes of the community. With the rest of Metro Orlando growing up around Winter Park at a great rate, Winter Park residents have been adamant in protecting the natural environment and history of their beloved home, resulting in a truly one of a kind community. There are 5 lakes within this chain, which are all interconnected with deep channels, allowing boats to easily navigate between the lakes.
